Does anyone know what type of tobacco plant is used...

to make cigarettes like Winstons? I'm sure this is difficult to find out as tobaccos companies don't exactly spell out their ingredients to the general public, or anyone for that matter. If anyone knows anything about the sort of plant though, please let me know.

tobacco is tobacco, the only thing different is what they add to the mix when they manufacture them. Growing tobacco is perfectly legal to grow in your own garden, the climate, and water you give to the plant as well as nutes and ferts will all decide the taste.
