..the weigh in and what weight he was on the actual night of the Mayweather fight? I read somewhere that he was 130lbs for the weigh in and 146lbs on the night. How likely is this to be true?

  1. While boxrec contends that Corrales weighed in (the day before) at the contracted 130, he was very pale and starched (stiff). . .obviously very dehydrated.  This is a risky but accepted technique used for years for fighters to reduce their weight.  Arturo Gatti did this ALL THE TIME (just ask Joey Gamache) to drop a few pounds just before his fights.

While 16 pounds is a huge amount of weight to regain simply from water gain. . . it's absolutely plausible.  It happens all the time.

  2. he weighed in at 130 at the official weigh-in which took place the day before the fight.

and yes, it is possible for a lightweight to put on 20 pounds in 24 hours, which is why the debate continues on when the weigh-in should take place.

if it takes place the day before the fight, then a weight-weakened fighter has time to put on the pounds so he won't go into the  fight drained, which may not be fair on an opponent who has no problem making the limit........
