Does anyone know when this social security thing starts?

Question

My history class was talking about social security and some of them have received mail about how much they have paid into social security and how much they were expected to be able to receive when eligible. does anyone know at what age this starts I haven't received anything yet

LOL.  you have a long way to go from high school!  look at about 50 years into your future before you see a dime.  we are all paying into it though the second you fill out a W-4 and start paying taxes.  You made my day.
