Does anyone know where I can find a black (in color) drinking water safe hose? I'd like to use it before the entry to my camper, so that I'm using solar heat for my water (and oddly enough, my hot-water tank for storing cooler water.)

Oh, and as for those that think RVing isn't green, me towing my camper around for 3 months would equal one of your plane trips from Newark to Florida :)

  1. Sewage hose is color coded Black to identify it from safe drinking water source. White hose is the color code for potable water. I think you are looking for a UV resistant product and they are often black in color. Check the garden hoses at Home Depot. They have white hoses used in marine applications. That should do the trick.

  2. You wouldn't want that, rubber is too insulating.  You'd want metal hose painted black in a collector painted black.  Copper is the best for weight and temperature conductivity, but darn expensive right now.

Anyone can SAY they're green, but I gotta doubt an RVer.  Most RVers insist on running stinky generators that generate CO2, smog gases and noise pollution, and that sinks them right there.  Maybe if they're economical with energy, don't haul it around much, and it means they're not living in a more wasteful house.

  3. Get a white hose (safe to drink from) and paint it black. But,the effect will help little if any.

  4. go to an RV centre and ask them or try a large retail supply store for an all natural rubber hose  in black but I'm sure you will always get the hose taste their are water bladders you can purchase that are solar heated and great for showers try them
