  1. You can get a good idea of costs from some websites. I like www.smartpak.com and www.doversaddlery.com

You really need to try boots on though in person.

How old are you and what discipline are you riding?

    Where are you located?

  2. There should be a tack store where you live. Otherwise there are some online sites that you can order stuff from

  3. Are you riding english or western? And what discipline are you riding in? Clothing varies a great deal in what you're expected to wear from one discipline to another. You wouldn't wear the same clothes for a western pleasure class that you would for a reining class or for dressage that you would wear for a huntseat or saddle seat class. You could always go to a local tack shop and I'm sure they could help with your needs, some places even take stuff on consignment so stuffs discounted. www.statelinetack.com Used to have a way to buy a "set" for huntseat I'm not sure if they still do or not though but they have nice items at reasonable prices. I've had great luck finding nice stuff for saddleseat and western pleasure (never looked at huntseat stuff but I'm sure they have plenty)on Ebay! A pr of like new western hobby horse chaps for $50 and my pink saddleseat day coat for $40!

  4. Depends what you'll be showing.  There's a big difference between the outfits for hunters and western pleasure.  I don't ride saddle seat so I can't help you there.  But I'll do what I can to help.

  5. Well, we need to know; are you showing english or western?  Open show?  Are you over 18 or will you need a safety helmet?  If possible, try to borrow clothes from someone else at your barn or stable.  Or ask around, show season is over for a lot of people, especially 4Hers, so you may be able to borrow from someone else.  That would give you time to look around at what the competitors are wearing before you start spending money.  If you need a hunt coat for english, try Goodwill, Salvation Army, or St. Vincent DePaul.  They have lots of coats in women's or men's that are suitable and not expensive. If you want first class or new, try www.horse.com,  www.statelinetack.com, www.doversaddlery.com, or do a search under equestrian sports, show clothes, and specify english or western.

www.sargents.com is great but can be pricey.  And don't forget ebay! There are lots of good clothes at great prices but it may take awhile to get them. Hope this helps.

  6. EBAY!!!!!!

it's cheap, you get good clothes and its fairly fast, plus no gas money lol

    i love ebay

  7. you can go to state line tack

    their website is www.horse.com

  8. Well, most tack shops have horse clothing. I dont know where you live so I cant tell you where to go. Ask your trainer! Most of the time you can get show clothes on consignment for dirt cheap.

It also depends on what type of dicipline you are doing.

    For hunter/jumpers

    Beige, olive, or tan breeches

navy, hunter green, or gray coat

    Any color shirt

    Tall boots (black)

    Shirt pin

    For dresage

    Black coat

    White or light tan breeches

    WHite shirt

    stock tie

    stock tie pin (optional)

Dress boots (the tall boots without laces on the front)

If you do western, I cannot help you. Sorry!

  9. Ebay is the best place regardless of the classes you are showing. I've saved hundreds of $ on my daughters western show clothing.

helmet [either english or western with an english cover]

    english boots

    english belt
