  1. There are a lot of urban-rehabilitation projects in the Oak Park area, WEAVE is a domestic violence group, and there are also a lot of environmental and children's groups, such as CalPIRG and the Ronald McDonald house and Shriner's Hospital.  SPCA for animals.  It depends on what type of npo you're looking for...but there is definately a lot of opportunity in the area.

Here's a link to VolunteerMatch.org which is great and has more variety/is more specialized than Craigslist:

  2. Try a local library... I work at my library every week (volunteer work).

  3. Call the Sacramento S.T.A.R.T. program, they have locations that allow students to do their customer service.  I used to work for them and had 2 high school kids volunteer for me.

  4. www.craigslist.org look at volunteer under community.

Also in the Bay area is a group called www.onebrick.org

There a similar groups like volunteermatch.org

    Good luck

  5. Contact your local Kiwanis, Rotary or Lions clubs, they can help you find a group and might even invite you to join them, or their college or teen satellite clubs depending upon your age.
