  1. Hi,

Try my web page - link below.  You can also PRINT a copy of any orthodox chess set and board in the world - FREE...

  2. This is a very nice back lit unit and comes with a very nice case.  The back light is like the Timex Indiglo watch and works great in low light.  Most hand-held chess games are very difficult to see due to poor LCD design, but this one has the best I've seen and I have several.

Another option is to buy the Palm Z22 PDA and download a chess program for that.  It's an LCD screen. (Not LED) You can find it at Best Buy for $100 and chess downloads from Pocketgear cost $10-$30.  I recommend this particular PDA over the more expensive ones for 2 reasons: It has a non-volatile memory meaning that if the battery goes dead you won't lose your installed programs.  The battery life on this unit is also better than on the more expensive ones.

And I recommend this chess game for the PDA:

Good luck!  I hope this helps!  "Castle early!"

EDIT:  William (below) has a good idea!  I forgot about the Gameboy option.  My wife bought me Kasparov Chess for my Gameboy Advance and I loved playing it!  I finally played all 30+ opponents and even beat Kasparov!!!  It's a good way to play hand-held illuminated chess.  It's a cheaper way than the Palm idea I had.  And the rechargable battery life is excellent on the Gameboy Advance.

  3. When all else fails, try ebay.  I have almost always found what I was looking for when I checked there.

  4. It might be cheaper to use an old gameboy color and get chessmaster for gameboy.
