Based on the starting stacks, blind escalation, and time per level, the author determined how much patience you can have as well as how much luck is involved in winning the tournament.  In other words, the better the tournament structure, the more patience you can afford to have and the amount of luck needed to win is reduced.  For around $60 - $100 buy in, I would recommend The Orleans tournament, the one they have at Planet Hollywood, or the one they have at the Sahara.  They all give you a decent amount of "play", allowing you to use your skill, and not just become "all in-fests".  Good luck at the tables!

I know of two sources.  Card Player magazine offers a running schedule of tournaments in Vegas, both regularly running tournaments and special events.  Another great source is PokerPages.com, which offers regularly updated complete tournament schedules in Vegas and around the world.  Tournaments in everything from small cardrooms to major casinos.  Best schedule source on the Web.
