I want a good, playable violin, not an antique that's meant to be in a case.

  1. Violin dealers. For example:

    Thomas Metzler Violins

    604 S Central Ave, Glendale, CA 91204

    Hans Weisshaar Inc

627 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004

    M & R Weisshaar & Son Violin

1763 Orange Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92627

    Callier Violin Shop

    50 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105

    Robert Cauer Violins

2242 N Cahuenga Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90068

    Cremona Violin Shop

3213 Midvale Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90034

    and hundreds more.

No real violinist would consider purchasing an instrument without personally examining and playing it first.

  2. House of Woodwinds!

  3. wwbw.com

  4. craigslist.org

  5. Pretty simple, a music shop. I would avoid buying online if you can as you will never be hapy with it. Well not entirely. Seriously, you will ony get the violin you truly want if you go into a music shop and try out a whole selection of different violins in your price range!

  6. if you're not looking for something too expensive, try your local pawn shops. just make sure you get to play the violins before you decide because you can't tell what it will sound like by looking at it. i bought mine from a pawn shop and it sounds beautiful. it cost $300 because the guy selling it priced it on its looks.

    good luck!
