My wife is researching UK-US dual citizenship. We have found info about the US perspective on 'findlaw.com', but I haven't yet found info on the British official perspective.

  3. The restrictions on dual citizenship have been lifted for UK/US. My friend recently took out US Citizenship and was allowed to keep his UK citizenship.

  4. Every country has its own laws on the acquisition and retention of citizenship:  it's always best to consult official government web sites rather than commercial sites, where people often have other motives.

As you know, the US does not forbid (or even discourage) dual citizenship unless the person acquiring another citizenship INTENDS to surrender US citizenship.  Here is the official word on this:

As for the UK, it's harder to find information, but here is a line that suggests that you will not lose your citizenship by acquiring another:

"People who are registered as British citizens may, as a result, lose or risk losing their existing nationality or citizenship. This depends on the law of the country concerned. You should contact the authorities of the country concerned before you apply for registration."  As you can see, this concerns itself with the loss of OTHER nationalities by becoming a UK citizen, not losing UK citizenship.
