  1. I never heard of  a mitered housing joint before. There is compound miters, regular 90 degrees miter in corners and then there is dado's and finger joint and tongue and groove.I'm 52 yrs old and been in the building business all my adult life and that's a new one on me. Good luck

I've been a carpenter for 15 years and have never heard of a mitered housing joint.  I did a little research, and the only thing I could come up with was that a housing joint is another name for a dado joint.  A groove is cut into a board to receive another piece.  These would be square cut, and not mitered.  A miter cut is a corner joint where both pieces are cut at a 45 degree angle and attached together.  This is an appearance joint, which hides end grain of the boards.
