  1. i must first start off by saying how wonderful you are for getting into getting some ex batts they are well worth it and

ignore what the person said about them not living long that isn't true sure they are unlikely to live as long as a normal chicken but . ..

surely they deserve a second chance and a better quality of life to what they have had?.. yes they do =)

here is a link to the bhwt

    http://www.bhwt.org.uk/rescue-coordinato...

    (the battery hen welfare trust)

it's in Uk but it has a few numbers and an e-mail adress. . .

Thjey rescue thoushands of birds each and every year

    91,265 Battery Hens soo far . . .

and by the way I am having the same problem as you . . however i am in Ireland . . .they are hopefully going to start a rescue co-ordinator here in ireland . . and i m ainn contact with the bhwt often

  2. Check a local sanctuary. Or check classifieds or petfinder in your area.

Battery hens dont have a long life expectancy. Why would you get tehm?

If you wnt eggs get austrlorps thay are they # 1 egg layers of 300+ eggs a year. I own them

  3. try looking up egg producers in yellow pages. or check the top of the egg cartons in shops , often have the producers name address and phone number

  4. This rescues all kinds of farm animals, including ex batteries.

I got some chickens from there once.

Chickens are great pets. But make sure you do not get a cockerel because even if you get the eggs every day you may miss some, and if you start with 50 you will have 200 hundred before you know it, and I'm not kidding because that that happened to me.
