Does anyone know where I can rent a Luton Van in England (preferably near Doncaster) and leave it in France preferably near St. Malo. (moving to live in Brittany and trying to keep moving costs to a minimum)

  1. Try looking on the forum on www.anglo-info.com. You may find someone that is looking to share a van hire in France. We did this successfully last year when we bought our house in the Deux-Sevres region and it saved us some money!

  2. try www.google.co.uk   search Luton van hire. Then ask.

    Works for me!

  3. Hi

It is unlikely you will save by doing this. Cross border drop off charges are very expensive.

There are a couple of ideas that may help :

1)Talk to a removal company about part loads. If they have a truck going over empty to collect a load to bring back this can be quite cheap. Works best if you are not critical on timing.

These people may be able to help : http://www.etbrokers-removals.com

2)Advertise on local expat forums to share van or removal costs. There is a surprising number of people moving things backwards and forwards. You need to hook into someone moving thinks from Brittany to UK. There are also people regularly doing this trip with space one way - antique dealers, etc etc.

A recent example of a similar deal had 6 offers of cost sharing :
