  1. Check out www.petfinder.com   They show rescue horses in your area or near by.  Goodluck.

  2. www.equine.com

  3. Do some searches in southeast michigan.  Every one here is going broke there are very good horses being sold so that their owners can try to keep their very favorites and early prospects.  I know several folks who have been given good broke horses just to make sure they're in a good home.  You can also check some of the rescues.

  4. I don't know bout dead-broke horse. I like in the Akron area & found my horse that i got around 2 months ago online. But she is far from dead broke. You in 4H or have any contact with barns? That's a good why to get connected to ppl who dont use websites.

  5. Did you try Dreamhorse.com?

  6. They're probably out there if you look hard, but it is rather a tall order, don't you think?  You want middle aged dead broke.  That's the horse everyone wants.  I suppose you also want no soundness issues or vices as well?  And you want it to be cheap?  It's the same old supply and demand.  I do know of a horse in southern IN....but he's gaited.  He's 12, 16 hands, I've not ridden him, but he's supposed to be very broke, and he rides western...will neck rein, side pass, etc... and he's only $1000....but he's unregistered and he's gaited.  It's going to be tough to find a CHEAP horse with your criteria, but I'd just keep looking on agdirect, dreamhorse, horsetopia, craigslist, equine.com.....who knows?  Maybe you'll get lucky.
