  1. The Currumbin wild life park and you can have your photo taken holding one  http://www.currumbin-sanctuary.org.au/

  2. The place I noticed that you could hold a koala on the goldcoast was in Dreamworld... there is a section in that theme park with different native animals.

I think most places will charge you money if you want to hold a koala... but a lot of them also take photos and you can buy merchandise with your photo on it.

  3. Certainly try Dreamworld.  However, if you head north... just out of Brisbane is Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.  It was established in 1927, and is only a 50-minute drive from the Gold Coast.

And the added bonus of Lone Pine is that there are other Australian fauna, such as Kangaroos, Emus, Curlews, Wombats, etc., that roam around that you can "touch".

Be warned though, you don't really "hug" a koala so much as they hug you.  They think you're a tree basically, so be prepared to be clung to by their claws.

  4. There are many wildlife parks, zoos and theme parks.

I recommend 'Koala country' in Dreamworld!!

  5. there are places near Melbourne (Jirralingha Animal sanctuary - Barwon Heads) and Sydney (Castle Hill) where you could handle koalas.

where will you be travelling from?

  6. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

    Cuddle a koala...

One of the true stars of the Australian bush, our cute koalas are ready and waiting to meet you for photos throughout each day

Do the koalas mind being handled?

Not at all. All of our Koalas are conditioned from a young age to feel comfortable around humans. Once we can prove to the Koalas that we are no threat to them, they relax and even enjoy the company of humans. Our Koalas are under constant care to ensure that they are not stressed.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia, is the world's first and largest koala sanctuary, with over 130 koalas. Cuddle a koala anytime, handfeed kangaroos and encounter a large variety of Aussie wildlife, all in beautiful, natural settings.

Brisbane's premiere tourist attraction is only 50 minutes from the Gold Coast.

Roam free with the kangaroos. They’re especially friendly if you feed them.

    Delight at the Tasmanian Devils.
