Does anyone know where i can find FREE info on gov grants. all i can find i have to pay for. if its free, why?

i am a single mom. i know there are grants out there, but the only ones i can find i have to pay for. anyone know where to find them or have you gotten one? thank you

  1. www.firstgov.gov (apparently renamed www.usa.gov now) is the government's information portal.  From there, a link to various grant programs (you weren't specific on what sort of grants you were looking for) are easy to find.

    Educational financial aid can be found at FAFSA (second link)

    Food assistance (third link)

    And there is lots more where that came from.  Never trust anyone who charges money for free information.  (such as governmental information, or your credit report - the latter of which there are a number of scam websites that actually charge for the information and advertise on TV).  Actual information on credit, as well as a real no charge credit report can be found on the fourth and fifth links:

  2. You can contact your college and ask them if there are any grants. If not grants you would most deffiently get financial aid. If you do not use all the aid you get a check for the difference. You can also go to fafsa.ed.gov for information. Hope this helps
