Does anyone know where the beaches in Cozumel are in relation to the piers?

We are going on a cruise to Cozumel in December. I remember that there were beaches close to the pier last time I went, but I don't remember if it was within walking distance. We are wanting to spend some time shopping, maybe go back to the ship for lunch, and then spend the afternoon at the beach. Does anyone know if the beach is within walking distance, or how long it takes to get to a beach if it is not in walking distance.

I would appreciate any information. I have found tons of beaches on on the internet, but I don't know where they are at in relation to the pier.

  1. i was just in cuzumel and i personally do not like it there. as soon as you get off there is a little market area where there are plenty of shops and some restruants like a fat tuesday. there are also taxis waiting around. we took a taxi to the beach which was a few bucks. it was a short drive but i dont know if you would want to walk. also just to let you know they didnt do alot of recovering from hurricanes from a few years ago

  2. You can't walk there - you need to take a cab.  Usually $3.00 per person.

  3. I was in Cozumel on the Inspiration last Sept.  The public beach is a couple of milessouth? of the pier.  I got a cab and we were there in a few minutes.  I am taking the Carnival Glory there in Sept of this year, and will have more time to spend on the island.  We want to hit the shopping this time.  I do remember that the cab driver we had took us to a free beach, and others we talked to were taken to beaches that they had to pay for.

  4. typialy on the cruises i have been on with carnival you dock on the side of the island with fat tuesdays and ron jon by it, and if you go thorugh the little market place to where taxis are they will take you to the beach, the one we went to was three miles away from the pier, not far,

but i don't think that there are many close that you can walk to,  at least this is what i have been told!

  5. I don't remember exactly. There may have been some close to the pier...I know we rented mopeds and drove to a very nice beach about 20 min from the piers. It is such a small island that there should be some within walking distance to piers-- good luck and have fun!

  6. The beaches are about 2-3 miles away from where you dock. We grabbed a taxi and arrived in just a few minutes. Shopping was great also.
