  1. YA! Go WINGS!

That guy's actually paid full time to mind Lord Stanley's Cup...now THAT'S a job!

Thumbs down for?????? You must be a stinkin' PBurgh fan!

  2. There are two of them

    http://www.nhl.com/hockeyu/history/cup/t...

Phil Pritchard (VP of the Hockey Hall of Fame and 'Keeper of the Cup)

    and Craig Campbell

  3. His name is Michael Bolt, that is his job, to protect the stanley cup. He actually works about 350 days a year. The gloves are mandatory any time he touches the stanley cup. And nobody, i mean nobody touches that cup unless mike hands it over personally. Thats his domain, he usually travels with the cup even when the players get their "day" with the cup

  4. Mike Bolt is his name, and that's his job. He is the keeper of the cup, that's his job title.

  5. Well whoever he is, he's constantly burdened by 35 pounds of extra weight wherever he goes.

  6. There are several 'keepers' of the Cup

The 'Head' Keeper of the Cup is Phil Pritchard, Vice President of the Hockey Hall of Fame, and Chief Curator.  He will be the final person to touch the Cup before Gary Bettman hands it to Lidstrom.  Pritchard is also the person who takes the Cup to the White House every year, and takes it to the more 'important' places.  Because the real Stanley Cup rarely leaves the vault in Toronto, Pritchard's primary job is guarding that one.  His assistants take care of the summer day trips.

    Pritchard has several assistants.

The first assistant is Craig Campbell.  Campbell was the person who embarked with the cup to recent visits to Afghanistan and Iraq (some of Campbell's recent pictures are here)

The second assistant is Michael Bolt

Michael accompanied Pritchard with the Stanley Cup as it made it's way to England last September (they also took the original 1892 Cup with them to visit it's 'birthplace').  Bolt is one of the men that accompanies the Stanley Cup on it's summer visits with the players.

Here are Pritchard's pictures of the London experience

The third assistant is Walter Newbrand

Neubrand accompanies Bolt on the summer journeys.

The final assistant is Bill Wellman.  Wellman is usually the one that accompanies the Cup to Europe.

Here's Phil Pritchard in shorts and sandals.................but he still wears those white gloves!

Here are pictures of Neubrand, Bolt, Wellman, and Pritchard with the Cup

  7. mike bolt by the way i touched the stanely cup

  8. Hes my best friend i like to call him Ronny

  9. i would LOVE that job... could you imagine how much count chocula you could eat from that?!

do you think he takes it home and throws it aside like it was his briefcase?

  10. There's also another guy if Bolt called in sick or has to take a personal leave or whatever else life dishes out. His name is Phil Pritchard. He was the co-professor in my hockey history class along with HHOF historian Kevin Shea. Great guys.

Now that I think about it, if you're talking about the guy in the HHOF promotion commercials, it's Pritchard shining the Cup, not Bolt.
