Does anyone know why Andy Murray plays singles while Jamie Murray plays doubles?

Is there an official reason why Jamie (the older brother) plays mostly doubles and Andy (the younger brother) has the big career in the more prestigious singles game?

& to stay in singles is more tough than in doubles....

Andy Murray must be the better Singles Player, and Jamie must be the better doubles players.  The matches are really different.  For instance, Max Mirnyi  is a really good doubles player but sucks as singles (and when I say "sucks" that's relatively speaking of course).
