Does anyone know why I don't get sick?

I have only gotten sick twice in at least the last 6 years, both times it was the flu. I have and am living with people who get colds, sore throats, stomach flus, and flus, and I never catch anything! I mean, I'm glad, I just wonder if there is a reason for it. Sometimes I feel like I'm about to get sick, but after a day or two it goes away, every time.

I have heard from many sources that being in love raises your immune system, and I have been with my boyfriend for the last 6 years, and we are honestly a fantastic couple. I have had a great, stress free life so far (21) and everything is going good. I got sick within the first couple of weeks when we first started dating, and then again when I was in another state for my first college. Sooooo, is it just the love/stress-free life I have had?

I only ask because I'm paranoid that somehow I have a tumor or some random thing like that that will backfire and kill me eventually.

So, any information would be awesome, thanks!

  1. Knock on wood.

Ummm..... yes, it's due to the fact you have a great immune system. Eating well and not being under stress can definitely help strengthen your immune system. Just be happy that you never get sick! :)

  2. U have an AWESOME immune system

  3. I really doubt it's because you've got a boyfriend.

You've just got a good immune system is all.

  4. congratulations on not being sick very often!

It is true that being stressed and not happy can contribute to weakening our immune system, so perhaps your happiness and stress-free life do support your immune strength.  But some people just seem to have a genetic predisposition to health or illness.  You probably are one of those folk!

I believer your paranoia about having a tumor is unfounded. do you have a family history of tumors?   Are you generally a worrier?  It doesn't sound like it, from what you say. So I suggest you try to let go of this fear thru whatever means you find comfortable (faith, meditation, self-talk, talking it out with friends, etc.), and live in as healthy a way as possible.  These ways include:

    what you eat

    how you exercise

    flossing your teeth

completing health screenings on time (such as checking blood pressure, blood count, mammograms)

    not smoking

    alcohol in moderation

    etc.

Then, having done all you possibly can to keep yourself healthy, take each day as it comes.  We all have enough to worry about for today without worrying about "tomorrow".

    i hope this helps!
