I'm just getting back into NCAA football, and Notre Dame has always been the team I grew up watching. Regardless of how they are doing, they will always be my favorites. I was wondering if anyone knew why they have been doing so poorly in recent history and could tell me why, and if the team has hope for the future. Thank you in advance. :)

  1. The reason Notre Dame is in this long slump, it's because every top notch recruit have better choice of schools to go to and the warmer WEATHER  have something to do with it. All the warmer weather schools is getting all the top recruit while Notre Dame is lagging in the cold winter. Look at all the Power Schools now, it's all in the warmer climate region, here an example, USC, FL, LSU, and all the SEC team are in the warmer part of the region. Put it this way, Notre Dame is not what it's once was and the top Athletes is not flocking to ND anymore they're going else where. USC will own ND for the next decade because they're getting all the top recruits in the nation and ND will be left in the COLD as in the cold weather.

  2. I don't know why they had the slump but they are always good at recruiting so they will start to come out of it this year and in a couple years they will be competing with the best in the NCAA

  3. This year and next year will really prove whether or not Weis is the right coach. His talent is maturing and you should see a lot of improvement from last year. If that doesn't happen, I'd start to blame the staff and commitment from the players.

  4. I cannot help but start to wonder if they have relied too much on tradition and recruiting in the last few years and not put in the work needed to be successful. They always have top 20 recruiting classes and have (no other way to say it) been pathetic over the last few years. The Irish have the ultimate “good ole’ boy’s” network going and the coach has to spend more time kissing boosters than preparing for football.

There are too many really good players out there to be able to depend on your talent or history anymore. Until they manage to get back to outworking, having more attitude, and desire than the teams that they play; they are not going to be great anymore. Everyone who is not a Notre Dame fan hates them and is very motivated to kick their $&# and they do not seem to get it. When you go out on your own and sign your own television deal, you had better have the mettle to back it up or you might get knocked out and your BCS connections cannot save you if you cannot win games.

  5. They pissed off Touchdown Jesus and cannot play defense worth anything.
