I RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT SOCIAL SECURITY HAS A 85+% BACKLOG IN PROCESSING CLAIMS. WHY DOES IT TAKE AN ADJUCATING JUDGE SO LONG TO CLEAN UP HIS OR HERS BACKLOG?

  1. I think your information is incorrect.  An application for Social Security retirement benefits is simple and quick.  If you are speaking of Social Security Disability, the process is more time consuming. Each application must be processed to decide if the disability meets SS criteria.  That can take some time as many people try to get disability that do not qualify.  If a claim in refused, there is the option for review and that takes time.  But a valid disability claim doesn't take long to be approved.

  2. you have to realize you are dealing with people who can't be fired for not doing their jobs. government agencies all exist for the benefit of the agency . the less they work the more help they get and more people means more supervisors and supervisors get higher pay. now put yourself in their place. government is the worst run business you can imagine.

  3. All I can say is when I turned 65 plus 8 mo's there was the old soc. right on time,  Have to say though it took a full hour of processing my forms to get the job done.
