  1. Has it ever worked or is this vehicle/trailer combination new?

Reason I asked is, in case you don't have the proper adapter, if you aren't sure, post the year make & model of your vehicle.

Otherwise, if the turn signals work but not the brakes, it's almost always due to a weak ground.

The white wire from the trailer side of the plug needs to be wrapped around an unpainted rust-free bolt on the trailer and tightened down tight.

To confirm my diagnosis, connect a jumper cable from the vehicle frame to the trailer frame and see if that makes 'em work.

  2. This is an often ask question.  On your car do you have yellow turn signals.  If so, you need an adapter that will still have brown, yellow, and green wires to the trailer, with a white ground wire.  The adapter has extra wires on the car end.  So, you need to follow the instructions carefully, but it will give you brake lights.  Driving around the block will take care of ground  99% of the time.  Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Did you get a double filament bulb or a single for break lights to work it has to be a double filament.

  4. Most likely it is the wire hook up on your vehicle. Get a tester from Wal Mart in the trailer light section like RP suggested. I think they only $5. This will help you out allot.

Also agree With Justin and make sure bulbs are correct first.

  5. We don't know how you hooked these to together the car and the trailer. For almost every vehicle out there they sell a converter plug and wire set to fit. so that all lights work properly All that said! Stick a long board or something between the seat and the pedal with the key on lights off and check the plug at the end going to the trailer (with a 12 volt test light). If you have power there check to see if your bulbs are okay if they are check wiring along trailer frame for a break. good luck hope you find the solution!

  6. You do not have it properly grounded.

Try rehooking it to the frame of the trailer - you may have to sand down to bare metal.  If that does not work, then you will have to check all the connections on ground wire.

That should take care of it.

  7. Use a test light & check at the plug.

  8. ck your ground wire.
