Does anyone know why my dog leaks urine?

I found a Jack Russel and we have to put a diaper on him because he leaks urine as he sleeps. Does anyone out there know what some possible causes are?

Sounds like a medical problem to me. Take him in to see the vet!

could be an infection - could be that he's just too young and not fully potty trained yet - could be a traumatic experience or dreaming of something exciting.  my dog pees a tiny bit when she gets really exciting - it's annoying and cute all at the same time.  talk to your vet about it, or find some dog groups in your area you could ask.

Leaking urine could mean a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, kidney problems.  He needs to see the vet again, good luck.

I would seriously recommend going to the vet.  I had a pup who was spayed and afterwards, she would leak a little urine and would be so embarrassed she would clean herself until she was nearly raw (lab puppy following my OCD behavior).  Turns out, after she was spayed, there was a hormonal imbalance that didn't allow a particular muscle to hold the urine in.  She took a pill a day after that and was fine.
