Does anyone know why my internet connection is intermittently working?

I thought it was my router because my desktop and wireless notebook were both doing it, but when I disconnect the router and plug my modem directly into my desktop it still does it. About every 5-10 minutes it will quit for about a minute and then start working again. I have a Westell model 6100 DSL modem. Please help!

Either you have a problem with the modem or the line coming into the house.  First replace the modem and see if it solves the problem.  If not, have your ISP check the line.
