Does anyone know why paracellular transport of water and Na reduces down the intestine?

...and transcellular becomes more dominant in the large intestine

  1. Because as Na reduces it tells the brain it is less dehydrated  and the fact that water is being absorded as it goes down. It is transcellular because there is more water molecules in the large intestine.
