Does anyone know why "its a small world" at disneyland is closed??? Is it only open for the holidays now???

It is closed for remodeling.  

According to Disney, the main change is a change of boats (to accomodate bigger passengers) , but according to insiders, it’s actually going to be much more.

The changes: The changes are going to see the rainforest scene replaced with a massive “Hooray for the U.S.A.” scene. Right now, the only American characters represented are a cowboy and an Eskimo. This might seem like the U.S. isn’t very well represented, but when you consider that the point of the ride is to explore other cultures, it makes sense.

Another big change is that Disney is going to stick its characters in scenes where they “belong”. So you might see the Hunchback of Notre Dame in the France section, Simba and Rafiki in the African section and Ariel with the gurgling mermaids at the beginning of the ride (at Disneyland, not Disneyworld).

The others have answered why it is closed right now: refurbishment. It is slated to reopen in November as Small World Holiday.

As to it "always" being closed - when do you go to the parks? In order to install the Holiday overlay the attraction is usually closed in October/November (opening mid-to-late November) and closed again in late January to remove the overlay.

yeah that sucks, i go there often maybe 2 times a year i recently went there was excited about the ride and i see its closed, it was disappointing....=[

we're gutting it from the inside out; making some really cool changes for the guests.

They remodel it every year around this time. I guess it's just close for usual remodeling

I was there yesterday and I soo wanted to go on it! i heard it was closed cause they were working on it. but i did go on the matterhorn (roller coaster), finding nemo submarine ride, buzz lightyear of star command ride where you shoot the Zs, the Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Carribean. The Pirates of the Carribean ride was my favorite:)
