Does anyone know why the police had a warrant to search Cheye Calvo's home?

From reading this article:

I get the impression that the police randomly mailed drugs to an innocent person to have an excuse to randomly forcibly search a home that they have no evidence of wrongdoing. In this case, the police officers accidentally killed the mayor's dogs. But why were they there in the first place? The article mentions a "scheme" where drugs are mailed to people. Is that legal? Are we still in the United States of America or is this n**i Germany?

  1. Here are the videos for you to watch yourself.  The first is a vid of the mayor and the second is the police department trying to cover their a.s.s.

This is despicable, the police should have done more due diligence before bursting into someone's home.  I live in Texas, and if they did something like that, the police would have been shot by the homeowners... seven out of ten Texans own a gun.  fortunately, this happened to the mayor and he has a voice that can be heard.  Improper raids happen to "no name" people far too often, but because the are considered "nobody's" the rest of us don't get to hear about it unless it goes horribly wrong.  For example, in Florida a few years ago, a raid was completed on the next door neighbour of a criminal.  the police accidentally went next door and traumatized the family for hours similar to the mayor.  If the police take the time to research, things like this would not happen.  Forced surprise entry should be a last resort for cases of significance.  A few pounds of marijuana delivered to a home by Fed Ex does not justify such entry... maybe if it was a few hundred pounds, or a meth lab, sure.

  2. I doubt the dogs were "accidentally" shot, Calvo stated in an interview that one of the dogs was running away because of the commotion of the other dog being shot and the police followed the dog into another room and shoot the dog right then and there. As an animal lover I find it to be an incredibly tragic story. The dogs were black labs, labs are known to be some of the gentlest dog species, it's possible they felt threatened and growled or barked at the cops who were imposing on their territory but I doubt they jumped up and tried to attack them. Also, the police from that area is incredibly shady, if you research it you will find a lot of stories of their police force. It seems their officers need much better training, I wouldn't feel safe in that community at all. Not that there aren't corrupt cops everywhere. Personally, I would be outraged if I was Cheye Calvo, especially since their names haven't been cleared and they haven't even been issued an apology.

  3. What happened to this couple was an atrocity.  As citizens we are having the dilemma of less rights in this country.  There are a lot of other people (illegal immigrants, true criminals, etc) who spoil it for the innocent people who have a right to live here.  What if the wife or husband wanted to shoot back?  The citizens have rights too.  I hate cops that think they are above the law, and apparently the cops in Prince George County MD think they are above the law.  Search Prince George County Police, or read the article where it mentions that one of their cops killed two delivery men, and a suspect was found strangled to death in his cell because of the police.  They wont even clear Mayor Cheye Calvo's name.  Typical bull headed cops for you.

  4. whoever was sending the pot, used their address. they would ship the pot, with their driver who was in on it, and someone would pick up the package later. the cops were following it from Arizona b/c a dog detected the pot. when he picked up the package and brought it in the house the cops were waiting to see who would pick it up. it seems to me that the driver messed up b/c i think he was supposed to drop it off where only the guys in on it would have the chance to pick it up.

  5. There are several issues here to consider > and obviously, hindsight is always 20/20.

    • A warrant is not needed if the police reasonably believe a crime is taking place.  If they hear someone screaming from a dwelling, would you want them to wait while they obtain a search warrant?

    • The police version is they were spotted coming to door by an occupant inside the dwelling, & felt if there was time for someone to get a weapon or destroy the evidence, they had to act with great haste.

    • The dog deaths are regrettable, but the police felt threatened.  Another version was the dog was running way.  Wherein lies the truth?

I'd have to say, until more evidence is put forward to state the police were negligent, I'd like to wait & see.

  6. The mayor's home was apparently one of several, randomly-selected drop-off points for the drugs where the 'pick-up person' waits for the delivery, then grabs it before the homeowner gets home.  They were supposedly mailed by a drug dealer, not the police (but, who knows for sure?).  There also was no warrant.

And, I don't think they "accidentally" killed the mayor's dogs -- one article mentions police, "...gunning down one of them as it was running away."

I think the US is on the 'downhill slide' into something besides democracy.  Anyone who doesn't think so should ask themselves: Do the citizens of the US have more freedom than 40 years ago, or less?

    I would say, "less."

  7. There was absolutely no warrant. Police LIED about warrant and then later admitted that they made false statement regarding warrant.

If such is police credibility how can you even believe them that dogs attacked them? In fact the dogs were trying to run into another room due to fear, but were chased and gunned down.

Furthermore whoever is justifying or defending the police is likely himself to be in police or low enforcement.

  8. I don't really care.

  9. no..
