Does anyone know why they are not lifting up the titanic wreck?

It's a huge undertaking and at that depth it would probably disintegrate before it reached the surface.

The site has been gone thru by several dive teams/groups and a lot of it (except for the ship) has been looted/salvaged

and is in museums and private collections. The sunken ship (which is in 3 sections and one section (a 4th section) is missing) is a Memorial to/for the many people that died on that tragic voyage.

They say it's haunted. And they are leaving it there where the remains of the people aboard should stay. Why mess with something from so long ago? Leave well enough alone.

It would be distroyed if brought up so while it's still someway intact they can explore and take samples from it

I would love to see them bring it up but it wouldnt be possible.

The ship is to fragile from decay.

It is to deep

The rough seas and unpredictable weather would make it hard to work with

Once at the surface the ship would be subject to collapse.

And besides what would we do with an old decaying ship if it were brought up? And besides the ship acts as a grave yard for all the souls lost on board.

There are several reasons. for instance think of how long it as been done there (hundreds of years). It is very fragile and would be worth nothing once it comes to the surface because it would obtain so much damage. Also there were so many deaths that occured during the sinking process that it is being left as a memorial and grave sight for the victims and their families. Besides it is more interesting to bring up pieces and inspect them and test them besides the whole thing

they are leaving as a memorial to the dead as that will be the only burial place they have.

I think they were either going to attempt it .. or did attempt it .. and it was not possible due to several reasons.   If I remember correctly - it seems it was too deep ,, cables broke, it came apart, etc.

Finally - it has been deemed a final resting place.

"Things" from the Titanic were recovered .. and there is a showing of these items.

Many people feel that the Titanic is basically a graveyard and out of respect for the people who died and their loved ones it should be left alone.
