  1. Bushes pockets wont fill them selves, will they? Or will they......And the beat goes on!

  2. Everyone always wants the price of everything they buy to be less.  They also want higher pay.  The problem is they don't recognize the conflicted dichotomy.  Higher wages mean higher cost for goods.

Gasoline in America is priced where the world market has determined it should be priced, plus federal and state taxes.  European gasoline is taxed far more heavily than is American gasoline, hence the difference in pricing.  Europeans would love to have lower taxation, but then they would balk at higher taxes somewhere else to replace the lost revenue.

Do I wish gasoline was 50 cents a gallon, like when I started driving?  Sure I do.  But I accept that in order to increase my salary sixfold, I had to accept sixfold increased prices on fuel.  Look at new cars.  A new car in the late 60's was about 3500 bucks.  The current US average is about 28K.  That's an eightfold increase.  SUV's run 35K or more.  Buy a smaller car, buy less gasoline.  All of a sudden, you're swimming in extra cash.

We all want something for nothing.  It's human nature.  The difficulty lies in balancing giving with receiving.  This is why GM, Ford and Chrysler and in deep trouble.  The UAW pushes for more and more and the car makers make less and less.  They cut corners on cars, which drives off customers.  Fewer sales means less revenue, but the UAW still wants their increases in pay and benefits, or they strike.  When there are no US car builders left, they will all be crying at the unemployment office, where the money I make is going to finance their lazy butts sitting at home until their benefits run out, because they make more on unemployment t han they do working.

We're s******g ourselves, folks.  Oil is a global commodity.  If we won't pay $110 a barrel, the Chinese will.  So we pay.  If we won't pay refiners to process the oil, they won't, so we pay.  If we want to get Junior to school and practices, we need to buy gasoline, so we pay.  I scrimp and save where I can, so increases are as painless as possible.

World food prices are up 55% in the last 6 months.  The average American family pays 10% of its income for food.  The average elsewhere in the world is 90% of income.  You want to talk about getting screwed?  How about not knowing how you're going to buy your family enough stale grain to fill their bellies so they don't starve each night?  Makes not having enough to fill up the SUV seem kinda silly, now doesn't it?

  3. I have no idea who you're talking to.  Most economists believe the price of gas is quite fair.  It should probably be higher considering the fact that the world has a limited supply and demand is going nowhere but up.

  4. no, the question is

why are we paying so LITTLE for gasoline?????

we SHOULD be paying $1.85.... per LITER (or quart)

In Europe, gas is about $6.00 per gallon (but most of it is tax)

Or are you just mad because it's gonna cost you a little more to overcompensate with that Hummer??

but back to your question, of COURSE it's greed!!
