Does anyone knows about Brantford, ON, Canada?

I will study abroad to Canada, consider to Mohawk college in Brantford city

what is the character of the city?the people?and hows the different with Toronto? is it near Toronto? i heard its just 1 hour from Toronto

Never been there, but I've got a couple friends from there. It's quite different from Toronto -- everywhere is, really -- but you're right, it's about an hour's drive away. (There are buses and things too, if you won't have a car while you're here.) It's a smaller city, with an older population, but also a sizable student population from Mohawk and also Wilfred Laurier University's Brantford campus. It's more of a blue-collar town -- pubs instead of martini bars, movie theatres instead of symphonies and ballets, that sort of thing. I'd recommend reading the Wikipedia article about Brantford, check out the city's website, and see what sort of local groups and events there are -- that should give you an idea of what the city's like.

Brantford is where Alexander Grahambell was born. It is a pretty small city and it raised Wayne Gretzky as well. Some parts are kinda Ghetto, its about an hour and 20 minutes from toronto. Brantford is really small and is no where near as nice as Toronto there are not many jobs either. Mohawk is pretty nice though. The town isnt far from other cities or anything, Hamilton is like 20 mins away. Its Ok i guess. But Mohawk is nice.

With traffic it is more like 2 hrs from Toronto. It is 20 min from the next big city Hamilton. It is a small city, very     friendly.
