Does anyone knows about netcut ? I have a router, and I made a lan network between me and my neighbors. Someone used a sw called netcut, the sw cuts on us. I wonder how come this sw blocks IPs from accessing the internet without the use of the router. How can I prevent this ? How does it work technically?

  1. It's not using IP to block network traffic.

Every Computer lan card (ethernet) has a BIA (burned in address). This address (01:ba:45:23:ce:01) is matched with an IP (192.168.1.1) to communicate on a local network. As soon as your computer is plugged into that network it sends a broadcast ARP(address resolution protocol) to the gateway. This is basically a way to say hi and obtain an IP.

This netcut blocks MAC addresses not allowed on the network. It just won't allow them a usable address.
