Does anyone knows how to obtain a citizenship certificate if you already obtain an american passport?

I"m from a foreign country and my mom gave me citizenship as a child but she never got the certificate to show proof of my citienship. I have an american passport but i just want to have a certificate just incase oneday i lose my passport. can anyone help me with the process it takes to get a certificate please tell me what i need to do.

  1. If you have an American passport you are an American citizen.

    The documentation required to obtain an American passport is proof you are indeed a citizen, unless ofcourse, the passport was obtained illegally.

    Sorry, I didn't read all. You need to know which state you were born in or which American Consulate your birth was registered with. Contacting one of the 2 should solve your problem. Info is available on the internet.


  2. just learn to remember your passport number, or keep the number in a safe place. so if you ever lose your pasport you can easily get another one. Your passport is evidence that you are a US citizen.

  3. if you acquired US citizenship as a child, you got an FS-240 Report of Birth Abroad of an American Citizen.  If you were older, you just got a passport, but are also entitled to a certificate of citizenship if you want one.
