Does anyone no why the RNZAF has no combat aircraft?

can someone please tell me why we have no fighters and if you know could you also tell me what type of aircraft will we gain in the near future.

  1. Yes, it was a cost-cutting measure by the labour gov't.  The RNZAF was looking closely at the F16 and F18, but it was quashed.

    Given New Zealand's geographic position, and potential theaters in the region, the ideal aircraft would be the F15E-were cost no object.  Great range-with heavy ordnance load; has a air/air capability (sort of).

    Realistically, to maintain commonality with the RAAF, the F18 Superhornet, or possibly an offset buy of the F35 might be in order
