  1. Here's some Sun Conure training guidelines:

Always remember that teaching and training sun conures should be fun not just for the trainer but also for the trainee; your sun conure parrot.  You must go into your sun conure training with excitement as if it were a joyous priviledge, NOT as if it is a job or hard task.  The tricks that you teach your sun conure to perform must fall under his comfortability zone. For example, do not attempt to train your sun conure to hang down like a bat when in reality he fears being upside down.  When training conures, make sure to use physical cues and simple verbal commands. Sun conures are visual birds and learn fast when things are demonstrated to them. They also appreciate to be gently guided physically in the beginning. Don't forget the verbal commands which reinforce the visual cue.  Praise your pet sun conure bird with a sincere enthusiastic verbal salute upon compliance of your command. It is imperative that you also reward them with a nice small treat such as a pumpkin seed or peanut. Sun conure training sessions should be held in a neutral zone which is far away from cages and other birds or distractions.  Less is more: Go for short sessions rather than long excruciating ones. It is far more successful to train sun conures in 5 minute sessions 3 times a day instead of one long 15-20 minute session.  Remember you are having fun training sun conures so be patient and continue guiding your pet sun conure gently. Never shout or reprimand your conure parrot.  Finally, try to always end your sun conure training sessions on a high note. By this I mean do not end the session after giving up and stopping because your conure could not perform the trick. Instead, choose an easier trick that he can perform, reward him when he does, and praise him. This will leave both parties happy and excited for the next session.
