Question:

Does anyone object to powering my JL Audio 13.5W7 with 2 JL1000/1v2?

I have one 13w7 and i have 1 jl1000/1v2 but i want more..so would anyone recommend adding another jl1000/1v2 amp to the set up?

  1. Even if you could double the power to that sub, you won't increase the dB level much.  If you're thinking you need more at this point and are willing to spring for a second JL 1000/1v2, might as well look into a second 13.5W7 too.

    On a side note, you might be at a point of looking into a more serious SPL sub then what the mainstream market has to offer.  Just throwing that out there because W7's aren't cheap, as you already know.


  2. its not recommended to use one amp per voice coil on the subwoofer IF the amps do not have a strap option or have the "master/slave" setting.

    if each amp is tuned a little different, then the frequency reaction and signal at the subwoofer will be a bit off from the other voice coil. this will damage you subwoofer and its not worth the trouble because half of the sub will be moving one way.. and the other half will be moving a different way.

    its better to just get one amplifier which will power your subwoofer at their final ohm load.
