  1. Go to a rescue, you can't trust anyone who is selling pups to make money. Never buy from free adds or pet shops and I wouldn't trust breed clubs either.

  2. I dont agree with the person who says dont get puppies for free!I got mine for free because of a good reason and shes lovely and healthy, and no,I dont breed chow chows,I dont know who breeds chow chows, and I dont like chow chows faces!

  3. I agree I  got my puppy AKC registered. And the breeder never had him vet checked once. He ended up  having a hernia which she said she did not notice and she gave all the shots her self just because they are KC doesnt mean they are better its just a peice of paper. Find a breeder who can give you refrences and wiat if you have to. Trust me you dont want to end up witha dog whome has to many problems. Another tip  get a guaranteed contract I learned my lesson on that as well. No contract sorry dog is sold as is. Lesson learned here.

  4. I don't agree with the person who said you should get a puppy from a kennel club registered breeder. But if you watched the bbc program the other night then you should know that they aren't health checked, they just match the KC description of the breed.

It depends where you live, i found my puppy off a website which advertises puppies in my local area, and he is a really healthy dog.

  5. Have you tried ringing around the chow breed clubs?

I wouldn't be asking on here for a Chow breeder - they need to be carefully bred for health and temperament and any breeder who isn't a KC accredited breeder or a member of a breed club is unlikely to be reputable. A well bred puppy is worth waiting for - you may have to go on  a waiting list for a puppy from a good breeder.

All the Chow breed club contact details are at the bottom of the page here:

Percy - are you really that naive that you think you stand a better chance of getting a healthy dog from someone who has never done a health test on a dog in their lives, rather than someone who takes the welfare of their breed very, very seriously, enough to know their dogs & their pedigrees & all their relations back through many generations?

If you believe that programme was a true representation of the vast majority of breeders, I suppose you must be ....

  6. Be sure it is from a good blood line because they have a tendency to be unpredictable.
