I reckon it would work as a one-off for the Olympics, but not as a permanent change.

It would give all players on all four teams a better chance of winning something than they've currently got.

not really, especially not the football associations.  Fifa may challenge the fact we are a single nation and want to get rid of the home nations from international competition, which is the fear if we do enter a GB team.
