Although we have all been lead to beleive that Iraq (along with Afganistan) have become 'irritant' terriost countries that have required the intervention of western politics and millitary to retain control of their government, is it not also concievable that oil has lead the western world here in the process. Think about it, countries such as darfur and Bhurma and zimbabwe have been riddled with corrupt powers overlooking them yet western intervention to protect these countries has been minimal to say the least. The difference between them and Iraq is power of oil and the survival of western economy as we know it and yet with Mr. Bush recently liasing with a newly imposed iraqi government and agreeing to lease oil to the west for oil and the sudden suggestion that american military must be removed from combat in 17 months doesnt this all seem a bit, well obvious. I ask you guys is it just me or do others feel that this is all a bit well staged?

  1. No. Nobody but you believes that. And a few billion other people.

Iraq is asking the U.S. to leave, and Bush says "no". The only believable reason is that he is raking off so much through profiteering that he doesn't care a fig  for truth or his own reputation.

  2. Burma and Zimbabwe haven't tried to assassinate our President, attacked our allies, threatened our allies with WMDs.  Their problems have been internal, leaving us unwilling to break their sovereignty by dealing with them militarily.   Afghanistan and Iraq lost their sovereignty when they attacked us and our allies (look at the long history of a decade of attacks by Iraq on our forces after defending Kuwait during the cease-fire while waiting for the U.N. to do SOMETHING to stop Saddam).

We don't go after corrupt nations.  Not our job to judge such.  Funny that you don't understand that.  I've noticed that a lot of complainers about the war don't get it:

    We don't attack sovereign nations.

We do attack nations that attack us.

    It's that simple.

Is oil a factor?  Heck yes.  When did defending our national interests become a BAD thing?

What foolish person started the idea that we were bad because we defend our national interests abroad!

What kind of suicidal nation would NOT see to the interests of it's businesses and private companies?

    Silly.

  6. Oil is mechanism that stabilizes power in the region. Gaining control? Yes I believe to gain control of operations but as of yet not the profits. If so I believe that Iraq should pay for the war. The REAL objective I believe is to establish foothold in the defense of ISREAL and to hinder the RUSSIAN - MIDDLE EAST geographical merge
