  3. You do have to have a high school diploma- I am a supervisor at a daycare and I had to go go get my GED, because I didn't graduate. I didn't want to go get my GED but they told me if I didn't I wouldn't be able to work at a daycare. So I went and got it, and I am so glad I did. I feel like I really accomplished something. So go ahead and go get it that if you need it you will have it.,and you will also be proud of yourself. Good Luck.

  4. You might want to check with state/city laws in your area.  

    Normally you need a liscence to open an in home day care, and most parents want someone who has taken ECE units or has a degree in ECE/teaching degree.  You'll also most likely need to be CPR certified.  

    You can normally take ECE units at a local community college, so you may need a high school diploma for that.  

    It would be wise to have some child psychology courses under your belt prior to opening an in home day care and caring for the children of others.

  6. You really need to start  by checking with your state's regulations. Some states  may require certification.  Be familiar with all regulations in your area before you start.  You will need a license.  You may have a limit on the number of children you may care for.  Insurance is a necessity . Many states require you provide a meal, fenced yard, play equipment etc.  You will want to develop a contract so that you and the parents know the cost, time limitations, age ranges etc.  Caring for young children is a worthwhile endeavor but preparation is key.  Do not jump in before you have set everything up.  Best of luck!
