  1. no

  2. Like everyone said, 13hh or less... they're short fat little things.  I don't own one but I live in Maryland and we've been down to the island to see the ponies before.

  3. These are wild ponies that are fairly small and if I remember right are decendents of Spainish ponies brough over to work in Mines. Unfortunately there was a ship wreck but some of the ponies did get free of it. You might contact the fire department in Chincoteague as they run the show when it comes to the ponies unless you buy privately.

  4. I do not own a Chincoteague pony, but here is a picture I found of the penning parade that happens...

Sorry, I'm not very helpful! :(

  5. I don't have one, but I overheard my trainer talking about a lady who had two, and she said they can be crazy. I think that this woman bought them too old, so the wild ways stuck inside them. If you're going to buy, I would buy young!! :)

  6. Chincoteague Ponies are approximately 13hh (on average). I hope these pictures are helpful.

  7. I have one.  He's 27 years old and a pinto.  Most Chincoteague Ponies who are born on Assateague (where they live) end up shorter than 13 hands.  They are pretty small, due to their living conditions.  Mine came off as a foal and kept growing until he was 5, and ended up being 12.3 hands.  There are some breeders of Chincoteagues, but on-farm breeding results would surely vary from wild breeding on a barrier island.  I have gone camping on Assateague MANY times, and there are friendly pest-like ponies who roam the campgrounds looking for handouts from people who don't follow the rules.  They have all been rather small, probably 12 hands on average.  People sometimes confuse friendly with tame.  Once I saw some people put a toddler on the back of one of the ponies to take a picture.  Luckily the pony made clear he/she would be having none of that before the parents actually got the child all the way on there, or there could have been a huge disaster.  People can be idiots.
