Does anyone own a carpet steamer?

Do you like it? does it get rid of dog pee smell?

I have one, and it works great to get general dirt out of the carpet.  Bad stains however, I think it's up to a professional steamer.  I couldn't get cat pee out, nor coffee stains out "all the way".  They are great to own because they do get the carpet looking good again, but never like when you move to a new place and the carpet is CLEAN.  They also take quite a bit of tiring energy to use.  You might try the little green one by Bissel if it's just a little stain.

it works like a charm. i thought it was just a waste of money but they get out the biggest stains!

I've had a Hoover carpet steamer for years, and I love it.  What I do for really hard stains though is pre-treat the stain first with something like Resolve, scrub by hand then use the carpet steamer afterwards.  That seems to work.  I have two big dogs who make a lot of stains, and I steam the carpet about once every 2-3 months.  It works great, and my house does not smell like I own 2 dogs!

its OK. don't know about dog pee, but most smells are pretty much zapped and I got it off a shopping channel on the TV years ago.
