Does anyone own a nixon coolpix lx? I'm having a prob taking pictures?

every time i go to take a pic and i press the shutter button a red dot with the red letters AF next to it flashes and the letters ISO come up on the side of the screen and it wont take any pictures? how can i fix it? HELP?

  1. I don't really know anything about the coolpix specifically, but it sounds to me like your ISO settings are off.

    If you are in a darker room, for example, you need a higher ISO.

    If you are in a lighter room, you need a lower ISO.

    I'm not sure what to do to change it on the coolpix, but try looking around and seeing where you can change settings.

    Outsides or in a sunny room, you need an ISO of probably only 200 or less.

    In a dimly lit room, you're going to want to go for around 400-800.

  2. AF stands for auto focus. If those letters glow red or flash, it is telling you that it can't autofocus.

    Most often, the reason for that is that it is too dark, hence the camera is suggesting you raise the ISO to help that problem.

    However, keep in mind that little P&S cameras give you a LOT of grain/noise on higher ISO settings. Those cameras really only work well in good light situations.
