  1. I had one when I was younger they are good dogs if you have alot of time, like they take alot of grooming there hair gets nappy and they can get ear mats which as lumps of hair behind there ears, there hard to cut off if you let them go to long. Also they are a needy breed and hard to train, the males tend to be barky and whiney. As for females I don't know. I have chiuahahas now simalar breed less work.

  2. I have one right now.  I have always had very large dogs before but went small this time for various reasons.

I think they are absolutely wonderful it treated properly.  If not socialized or given boundaries they can become fearful, possessive, yappy, or snappy.

They want your attention constantly, although they can be happy sitting watching tv or right now mine is laying down under my feet.  They want to be with "their" person.  They (if bred well and socialized properly) are outgoing little clowns.  They want to be the center of attention.  They learn things amazingly fast.  Mine knows many tricks as well as having obedience titles, rally titles, Agility titles and therapy dog certified.  They have active minds and if not given something to do will find something.  They will bark a warning at every little noise.  The trick is to teach them to stop.  I tell mine thank you for warning me and that is enough.

Expenses.  Grooming expenses for baths or if you want them clipped,  Their coat needs constant attention but if kept up only takes a few minutes because they are small.  they have to be clipped slightly "back there" so they don't get things stuck.

They can have health problems such as bad patellas, collapsing tracheas, plus more.  You have to watch out especially with puppies for hypoglycemia.  They must have their teeth cleaned at least once a year.

Reputable breeders:  Contact your local pomeranian club for references.

  3. I have 2 Poms.  Love them both.  They are great lapdogs but also love to get out and run and chase balls.  They do need regular grooming to keep out mats, but I find a few times a week more than enough. Start this when very young.  One is  fussy eater.  Both love other pets.  Both love car rides.  Yes, they do bark, but so do my other dogs who aren't Poms.

  4. I have one and have had him for almost ten years!

They are good dogs, extremely loyal, and territorial.  They seem to like to protect what is theirs.  In my case mine has a little attitude sometimes.  This type of dog isn't on you 24/7 like most little dogs.  They like their space at times...

They also barks a lot! "All bark no bite!"

He is like a watch dog by the door!  He is very cute though!

They are good dogs, but it depends what type you want because they all have different personalities!

  5. I recently got a pomeranian from the website below. Now keep in mind this breeder is in Lincoln, CA.  Geana is the breeder and all her dogs are AKC registered and so will your future puppy be. My puppy was 650 dollars and i got a female cream color cutie!

It is really important that you check out where the puppies are taken care of, the state of the house, and the state of the puppies mother. Before I picked up my dog, we were allowed to come and hold them and see the mom at her house when they were about 5 weeks old. I was able to see their living conditions and the mother, (who was gorgeous!) and the father (also a cutie) The thing that amazed me the most is when we rang the doorbell there were no dogs barking.Still to this day my dog is not a yapper at all.  I have read and assumed that female purebreds cost more than males because you could essentially turn around and breed your dog and sell the puppies, whereas if you have a male dog, you could only stud him out for a fee. So most breeders ask for more money for a female than a male whether you say you're going to spay/neuter or not. The price for a pomeranian  is $300-800 but could get into the $1000's but be VERY suspicious because you could be getting scammed into buying an over-bred dog, or no dog at all.

As far as expenses specific for this breed, there is no set expense. This is a breed that will need grooming, but you can do it yourself. It doesn't need speical food although you can buy speical food for any dog. All dogs will have vet bills and every breed of dog has possible health concerns. This breed has issuses with hip and leg problems, due mostly to jumping off high places, and hypogylcema, which is low sugar. They also could have potental eye problems but there is nothing that pomeranians are known to have like westies and known to have skin problems.

I love my pomeranian and am so glad i went with this breed. She's so cute, and so much fun. She's not shaky and skittish like a Chihuahua, and she's cuddly and playful. Pomeranians are very intelligent and do well under training and can even do agility contests. They do think they are bigger then they really are but that's because of their ancestory. I thought i wouldn't like that, but no i do. She doesn't try start fights with big dogs, or yap at little kids like I've seen Chihuahua's do. She's very friendly and curious, and loves to play tag with kids at the park.
