  1. I own a R1150GS and have also owned a R80GS for a while. I like BMW bikes - although they score poorly IMHO for corrosion. I have ridden the K1200R and found it the most fun I could have with my clothes on. As the K1200S uses the same engine I imagine it would be a hoot!

  2. 1977 Boxer 1000. It was quirky but reliable. I wouldn't own another one.

  3. BMW's have a cult following and seem to be supported very well by the aftermarket parts companies. They're like the metric equivalent for Harleys, you can get parts for bikes going back 30 to 40 years. Their opposed piston engines have been around a long time. The first ones were air cooled (riders call themselves Airheads) but recently they changed them over to oil cooling. The K1200 uses an inline engine instead of the old school opposed piston setup. It seems to be a great motor and haven't heard anyone having serious issues with one.

What really gets me is how metric riders rag on Harleys for having an engine design that goes back many years but BMW has the same thing yet no one puts them down for doing it.
