Does anyone own their own pharmacy. I plan on becoming a pharmacist when I get older, and I noticed that pharmacies in drug stores are always missing medicines and take forever to fill. I want to know what its like if you own a pharmacy, how much money you make, and do you get business?

  1. My fiance's father owned his own pharmacy for over 15 years until he sold it to a local grocery store a year ago for 340 thousands (with 1/3 being taxed away).  He had a very loyal group of customers in our small town and often did deliveries to elderly people who could not come in.  He had trouble with a few delinquents also, ( probably not the best business practice to let people rack up thousands of dollars in debts.)  He did very well with this business and made in excess of 100,000 a year.  There are legal troubles to worry, and it is very troublesome getting insurance companies to pay up.  ( he would spend considerable time on the phone getting these companies to pay what they owe.

(BTW, the grocery store managed to lose a significant amount of the business he built up over the years, but it is still open.)  (Her dad's pharmacy is the only surviving pharmacy in our town which previously had 5.)
