  1. practice being able to control the ball.

bumping it to yourself, spiking, serving, blocking.

very important to be able to control it.

  2. I am a college volleyball player. The best thing she can do it just get out and play. Work on setting the ball and passing the ball. If she intends on being a hitter (which I am so I know more about that than any thing else) then she should work on her vertical and her spike approach. The approach is VERY VERY important. Work on timing your approach.

For defense, work on staying low. Never stand up to pass. Stay low to the ground.

Work on serving also.  You can have a floater serve or a top spin.

Let me know if you need any more help!

  3. Several things will help:

practice jumping and stretching as high as possible.

practice falling without getting hurt (beach volleyball tactic).

do some running and cycling to build up leg strength.

call local parks&recreation depts in your city  to see if volley ball is being taught, or played. go and watch volleyball games and imitate the moves of the better players.

Some swimming pools have beach volleyball "sandpits" to play in.  Go and do it.

Visit sporting goods stores to find out where and who is playing Volleyball this summer.  The stores sell uniforms and nets and balls.  Then go and volunteer to play, even if you have to pay a small fee.

Rent a video-tape or CD about volleyball playing.  They are available.

  4. don't worry i was horrible when i started playing volleyball but now that I've been playing for 12 years I'm great

  5. well i started last year ands i played inermurials(if thats spelled right) at school then i got good and made the team...plus i played at the y and my lil sister went to volleyball camp  for 1 wk!!!

    goodluck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. she needs to do the exercises, one is lunges taking a step and bending all they way down each time. twisting the body by standing and just twist each way to stretch your muscles. practice putting one hand inside the other like make one hand into a fist and then hold the other hand around it that is the way you will hit the ball. you need to know how to aim the ball when your hitting it and how to tell where it is coming at. practice getting to a spot on the volleyball court fast thats very important too. when you are up by the net and the ball is coming over you can jump and hit it right back with the flat of your hand but not when the other team just served it only after its been played back. if you hit the net then its the other teams point. it helps to call the ball if you are going to be able to hit it then say I got it or something like that. or if it is out of your reach then say help. when the ball is being served from teh other side be ready for it always watching the ball and server. when you are serving you can either go under handed by holding the ball in your hand and then making a fist with whatever hand you write with and hitting it from underneath this will send the ball flying onto the opposite side of the net into the other teams area. dont hit too hard or it will go out. you can hit over handed by throwing the ball up in the air over your head and then hitting it flat handed or fisted whichever is more powerful. sometimes you can jump to give it a extra boost of power. volleyball is really fun. have fun playing it.

  7. Umm, well. I'm not sure where you're located but I'm pretty sure that if you're in the U.S. there are volleyball clubs that you could look up and see if one of the coaches could help train her. Or, if she is going to highschool she could train with the coach there. I don't know if the standards are different where you live, but maybe that could work out.

  8. I've been playing volleyball for seven years. Some tips to make the team would be,

-always call the ball! say "mine!" "got it"; something

to let the other players know that you've got the ball.

    -stay low when passing (bumping)

-a big misconception of setting is that you set with your

fingertips, you actually use your whole fingers, you dont always have to use all ten fingers either, at minimum, use your thumb, pointer, and middle fingers.

-when spiking the ball, practice throwing the ball up yourself, with the hand you spike with, and make sure to snap your wrist.

or you could practice together at home, just learning the basics

  11. She could always practices if she want to before tryout. Hope it help you!

  12. Definitely ask a friend who plays volleyball to help you out over the summer. But if you cant to do that...do lots of ajility workouts cuz on the court you need to be moving fast. Buy a volleyball and practice bumping, setting, spiking and serving.
