Question:

Does anyone please have any family trees connected with the Stricklands of Sizergh?

The Stricklands have held Sizergh (Castle) near Kendal since the Thirteenth Century. I am a National Trust volunteer and doing research, always keen to improve my knowledge. The surname comes from Great Strickland further North in Cumbria.

  1. Good luck! I'm not a Strickland, but you could do some digging about the origins of Stricklandgate in Kendal; it seems to me that the name must have been carried there as a surname, as it is too far from either the castle or Great Strickland to have just spilled over.
