  2. People care - but whether caring is truly altruistic is debatable. It's impossible to say that the person doing the caring gets absolutely nothing beneficial from the experience.... even if it is merely the alleviation of feelings of pity that arise when presented with something we feel requires "care" to fix it. Now why would pity itself be evolutionarily adaptive?

    I think I need to sleep.

  3. I care AND I'm looking out for number one, and my genetic instincts were overridden a long time ago.

  4. yeah we care...people just carried away when they think that being a couple and having some kids is what lifes about. it isnt it only is when you have that....enjoy life while you can before the selfish gene takes a grip

  5. Our big brains give us the ability to moderate our selfish genetic instincts.  Whether we care to do so or not is our choice.  And choosing to do so can be an indication of caring.

  6. people strive for what they want, not what is good for other people.

  7. primarily, we are selfish in terms of the nature of survival. nonetheless, we have higher cognitive processes, and so, we are capable of choice. it revolves around that. ^_^
