simile (?) about being caught between two exactly equal choices. I referred to it the other day and realized I wasn't sure of the name. Not in WP and doesn't google well.

In the story, the donkey is lazy and always walks to the nearest food. One day he realizes he's standing exactly equidistant between two piles of hay. Unable to decide which is closer, he starves.

So is that the correct name?

  1. Buridan's ***.

...it's a great thought experiment about the nature of rational choice i.e. do we need sufficient reasons for all of our choices?

  2. I am aware of a biblical A$$ lol (Balaam A$$) but the one you mention is much funnier. I guess its about choices ; we tend to take the easier among two.
